In short

My Will does not transmit any of your information to me or to third parties. The app requires no sign-in, contains no analytics, tracking or advertising services and does not connect to the internet by itself. Everything you enter is stored only on your device. I have no access to it.

Data on your device

The app stores your answers in the quizzes, the details for the text of the will, completed checklist steps and the PDF files created in a folder called "Mein Testament". This folder is visible in the Files app and on a computer via the Finder. In addition there are a few settings, for example whether you have confirmed the start notice and which purchases are unlocked.

Depending on your answers, this data can be very personal: information about your health, debts and assets, your family and other persons, for example the disability or over-indebtedness of a child, as well as your wishes and a letter to your family. What you enter is up to you. You are yourself responsible for information about other persons; this applies in particular if you use client management professionally.

The data is not synchronised between devices and is not stored in iCloud Drive. It is protected by the security features of iOS, in particular device encryption when a passcode is set. The app does not add its own encryption or lock; anyone using your unlocked device can see the information. The data may be part of a device backup you create via iCloud or your computer; your settings and Apple's terms apply to such backups.

Deletion

In the "Will" tab under "Your data", "Delete all data – reset app" deletes all answers, details and PDF files, and with client management all clients as well. Deleting the app also removes all data.

Sharing and printing

You can print, send or save PDF files and templates in another app via the iOS share menu. The app passes the file only to the destination you choose. What happens to the data there is determined by you and the chosen application.

In-app purchases

The full version and client management can be purchased in the app. Purchase, payment and restoring are handled entirely by Apple; when the app starts, the system checks with the App Store which purchases are unlocked. Apple processes your Apple ID and payment details under its own responsibility. Your information is not transmitted in the process. I do not receive any information from Apple that identifies you, only aggregated sales reports.

The footer and the info window contain an advertisement, marked as such, with a link, telephone number and email address. Only when you tap one of these does Safari, the Phone or the Mail app open. A prepared email contains only a subject line, no information from the app. The privacy terms of the respective providers apply to the services opened.

App Store and Apple services

You use Apple's App Store to download, update and purchase. Apple processes the data required for this under its own responsibility; Apple's privacy policy applies. If you have agreed in your device settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple provides me with aggregated usage and crash statistics. I cannot identify individuals from them.

Contact by email

If you write to me about the app, I process your details in order to answer your enquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, otherwise point (f)). Please do not send me any information from your will. The email is deleted once the enquiry has been dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and to object (Art. 15 to 21 GDPR) as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). As the app does not transmit any personal data to me, in practice this mainly concerns emails you send me.
